Day 1

The adventure starts with a short but intense walk on the ancient “Scannamujera” pilgrim’s path from Manfredonia to Monte Sant’Angelo, where you will spend your time visiting the whitewashed Rione Junno and the grotto of Saint Michael (UNESCO site), the shrine from which the longboard cult of the warrior-saint spread throughout the world. In the evening, you will have the time for a stroll along the seafront, see the Roman Basilica of Siponto and have a local fish dinner in Manfredonia.

Monte Sacro

Day 2

The second day, you will meet again our staff who will prepare your bicycles and send you off on your way for a 25 km ride to Monte Sacro (874 masl), one of the highest points of the Gargano promontory. Here you will find the remainings of an ancient abbey, and have a light lunch in an authentic masseria: this place is renowned all over the world among botanists and nature enthusiasts for its unique species of wild orchids blooming in spring. Mattinata is also renowned for monumental olive trees and in October and November you can also take part in a traditional harvest activity picking olives with your own hands and tasting the new oil for the next year.
