FAQ

Are the cycling routes safe? Do they suit me and my family?

The majority of the routes on Apulia Bike Route are the same that are on Bicitalia, the cycle tourism portal Federazione Italiana Ambiente e Bicicletta. That means that they meet minimal safety standards (e.g., it is always recommended to get on the train on heavy traffic stretches). Si consiglia comunque di visitare il sito Bicitalia.org e consultare la visualizzazione dettagliata dei singoli percorsi, per informazioni sui livelli di traffico e sicurezza dei singoli pezzi di itinerario.

In general, it can be said that Apulia bears lots of backroads and is relatively flat with respect to other South Italy’s regions. Comunque, le tipologie di ciclisti sono così differenti che è impossibile dirti su due piedi se un itinerario è per bici da strada o mountain bike oppure se è adatto a ciclisti esperti oppure a principianti e bambini.

Apulia Bike Route is also available as an app?

Not yet!

Is there a map with all the Apulia cycle routes?

The answer is no, and that’s why we founded Apulia Bike Route. Differently from other Italian top-quality cycling destinations (Trentino-Sud Tirolo, Friuli Venezia Giulia, etc.), unfortunataly something like that doesn’t exist.

We can provide on demand a custom map with all the routes you’re interested in.

Are the routes signposted?

Also in this case, the answer is: “unfortunately not”. That’s why it is important using a GPS.

Can I suggest a route or an attraction along one of the routes?

Definitely! If you’re a cycling explorer, you can help us in many ways. We also need original quality photos.
